Ride one of Central Otago’s newest trails at our special opening price. This voucher covers everything you need – we’ll transport you from our Bannockburn depot to Gibbston Valley, then you ride the Kawarau Gorge Trail back at your own pace on one of our e-bikes.
What’s included:
- E-bike hire
- Transport from Bannockburn to Gibbston
- We make a $5 contribution from every voucher sale to Southern Lakes Trails Trust for upkeep of the trail

About the E-Bike
- You’ll be riding a quality Sinch E-Bike with more than enough power and battery for the trail
- Upgrade to a Premium Sinch E-Bike by paying $20 extra when bookings are open and you are selecting your date.
About the trip and the Kawarau Gorge Trail
The trail is expected to open in late September, early October. However, until the official announcement, these are just estimates.
This trip departs daily at 10am from our Bannockburn depot. Note that we need a minimum of two people hiring bikes to run the trip.
You’ll arrive in Gibbston Valley at 10:30am approximately and ride the 29km back to our depot. You can of course explore the Bannockburn and Cromwell area before returning your bikes by 4:45pm for our 5pm closing.

NOTE – the trail is graded 2-3 and is considered a back country trail. You need to be a confident and capable rider.
Voucher conditions:
- Valid for 3 years from date of purchase
- Fully transferable – great as a gift for someone you know would love to ride this trail
- All bookings subject to availability at time of booking
- Minimum of two vouchers to run a trip unless other customers are already booked on that day
- This voucher cannot be used on the public opening day for the trail
- Non-refundable
- Cannot be exchanged for cash or other goods
- Total voucher numbers for sale are limited
- Our standard terms and conditions apply for all bookings
How to book
As we do not know the exact opening date, pending the announcement we are only taking bookings for 1 November 2026 onwards. As soon as the official opening date is announced we will make contact with you in case you are wanting to book prior to 1 November 2026.
We recommend booking well in advance for any dates you’re considering, especially over the Summer or any holiday periods.
